Grammarly is the best way to make sure that your writing is error-free. Use this free (or paid) tool to make sure that your work is always polished.

What is Grammarly and What it Does

Grammarly is an online (or downloadable) tool that checks your writing for spelling errors, grammatical errors and even plagiarism. It also checks style and tone. Grammar can be tricky so this tool helps to ferret out the mistakes so you can publish clear, concise writing. Grammarly is perfect for all you non-writers out there (myself included!)

This tool will eliminate grammar errors, fix spelling mistakes, correct punctuation errors and enhance your writing overall. We all know that the English language can be tricky even to native English speakers. I was born and raised in this country with American born parents and I know that I struggle with writing all the time.

The #1 Writing Tool
It’s not just a grammar and spelling checker, as I mentioned before, it checks tone and can even check for plagiarism (this is PERFECT for students writing papers)!

Who Grammarly is Good For

Grammarly is good for just about anyone. No matter if you’re a seasoned writer, student, blogger or just starting this tool will be useful for you. It is way more than just a grammar checker. Grammarly checks spelling, tone, grammar, clarity and much much more!

How it Works

There are a few different ways you can use Grammarly. They have a Chrome extension, a Windows plug-in, and an online app. I have the Chrome extension enabled and I use the online app. You can see below that I’ve got the Chrome extension and the Windows app both enabled. I haven’t yet tried the Microsoft Office app but I plan to in the future.

Grammarly apps

You can also use the online website app in 1 of 2 ways. You can upload your file by clicking on the Upload button you can see below or you can compose your piece directly on the website.

Writing directly on the website is no different than typing in MS Word or your word processing software of choice. The interface is super simple and just as user-friendly as the other tools. You can see in the screenshot below what you get when you click on the new button.

Is it Easy?

100% Yes!!! It’s integrated seamlessly with your internet browser, OS or Microsoft Office and its working in the background while you type! Uploading your work and using the web interface is a snap as well!

Grammarly underlines errors in red so it is super simple to see what needs changing. To make changes, all you have to do is hover over the underlined word or phrase then click on the corrected word/words or phrase and you are good to go! In other words, it's super simple to check your work as you go with the integrations available.

There is a BIG difference jump in features for the free and premium. This is fairly typical between free versions and paid versions of MOST products. Grammarly is no exception to that. I use the free version so I have to do a bit more editing on my own but that is ok for the time being.

How much does Grammarly cost?

This is the question that everyone always wants to know. How much does it cost? The free version is free and costs nothing. I currently use the free version but fully plan to upgrade to the paid version as soon as I'm making more money from this blog. I'm currently on a shoestring budget here so I'm using all of the free tools that I can get at the moment.

Grammarly Premium is $11,66/month billed annually.

Grammarly Business is $12,50/month/team member also billed annually.

The only difference between premium and business is the number of licenses you get. Across the board, they are just about the same otherwise. You get a few extras with the business package that aren't necessary if you don't have a team working for you.

Bottom Line

Is Grammarly worth it? In my opinion 100% YES! No matter what your writing level or ability is at anyone can find value in Grammarly's tools. If you are a beginner you may be able to get away with using the free version but if you can afford it the premium subscription is the way to go.
