Ravintsara essential oil is the product of the month for February for doTERRA. I wanted to highlight the benefits of this amazing essential oil. I will be highlighting a different essential oil each week or so.
What is Ravintsara essential oil?
Ravintsara (commonly confused with Ravensara) comes from the leaves of the Cinnamomum camphora plant. It is sourced from Madagascar.
This oil has cleansing and refreshing and cleansing benefits. Ravintsara essential oil is like Eucalyptus and Camphor, however, it is greener and milder in nature.
It is ideal for promoting open airways and clear breathing. It is a soothing oil as well.
Benefits of Ravintsara?
Ravintsara is the main ingredient of the respiratory blend Breathe. Breathe is a favorite in our house. We add it to our diffuser at night. I can’t wat to add this oil into the mix!

How to use Ravintsara Essential Oil
Ravintsara can be used aromatically and topically. You should dilute this oil with a carrier oil (fractionated coconut oil, jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, etc.) before using to minimize potential skin sensitivity. My favorite carrier oil is fractionated coconut oil. Here is a brand that I LOVE.
Diffuse this oil with citrus to uplift the moos and combat stuffiness. Add 5-10 drops to Epsom salts for a soothing and relaxing bath. Combing with vinegar and water for a cleaning spray (see recipe below). You can also drop into your hands, rub together, cup over your nose and inhale to boost your mood and energy!
Create your own blends by combining this amazing oil with others like Douglas Fir, Copaiba, Frankincense, Lavender, Peppermint, Rose, Tangerine, Vetiver or Wintergreen.

How to get Ravintsara Essential Oil
Ravintsara is found in the doTERRA blend called Breathe. It’s a favorite at my house. We use Breathe every night in our diffuser along with other calming oils.

DIY Cleaning Spray
Here’s a quick DIY cleaning spray using Ravintsara essential oil. Instead of the vinegar, you could use castile soap instead of vinegar for a multipurpose cleaner!
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 1 3/4 cups water
- 20 drops essential oils
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a 16 oz glass spray bottle
- Shake thoroughly. Spritz on surfaces and wipe clean
Notes
Here are some favorite combinations of oils: 10 drops Ravintsara, 10 drops Tangerine 5 drops Ravintsara, 10 drops Eucalyptus, 5 drops Lemon 10 drops On Guard, 5 drops Ravintsara, 5 drops Grapefruit You could use 3 tbsp of castile soap instead of the vinegar for a multi-purpose spray. Never mix vinegar and castile soap, the soap “breaks” rendering your spray ineffective.
