The Best DIY Acne Spot Treatment – try it today!
It’s happened to all of us. Out of nowhere, you wake up with a blemish. It never fails, if you’ve got an important meeting, a date or other function you’ve been stressing about it’s almost a guarantee it will happen. I’ve got a solution for you. This DIY acne spot treatment is super simple, extremely effective AND you most likely already have all the ingredients at home already. This remedy is effective with mild acne.
Ingredients and Why they Work
This mask has common ingredients that most everyone has at home already.
Uncoated Aspirin – This is the main ingredient of our mask. It works because aspirin is mostly made up of salicylic acid. Salicylic acid has drying effects on the skin and aspirin also work on the inflammation of acne
Raw Honey – Honey is a humectant. It can draw excess fluid and inflammation out of the skin. Honey won’t work on all acne. It IS antibacterial also so that also helps.
Tea Tree Essential Oil – Tea tree oil is renowned for its cleansing and rejuvenating effect on the skin and it promotes healthy immune function so this oil packs a punch with mild acne. It is important to use HIGH QUALITY essential oils. You don’t want to buy a cheap tea tree off of Amazon. You never know what they will put in the bottle or if it is diluted or not. It is far to easy for companies to put out an inferior product. To get the best price on the purest essential oils sign up here or contact me for more information.
DIY Acne Spot Treatment Recipe
This makes up several applications of the mask so keep it in an airtight container when not in use, so it doesn’t lose potency. If it gets a little dry you can always stir in a few drops of water to moisten it back up.
Ingredients
8-10 finely crushed uncoated aspirin tablets
1 tsp raw honey
5-10 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil (to get the best price on the purest oils (click HERE)
Enough water to make it work into a paste
Instructions
Crush up the aspirin into a fine powder with the cap of the bottle
Add the tea tree essential oil
Add the honey
Stir to check the consistency
Add water until desired consistency is reached
To Use
Use a wooden or plastic spatula to apply the mask on. Allow to dry and flake off (10-20 minutes). Run cool (not cold) water over areas (don’t rub!) to wash off. I have to really stress the importance of taking this mask off carefully. Asprin can be fairly abrasive to the skin (we use crushed aspirin as an exfoliant sometimes). PLEASE just let the water take most of the mask off for you. Trust me, your face will not thank you if you try to scrub it off.
Notes
Depending on your sensitivity to tea tree oil you may need less. Assess your skin in a small area to check.
If you don’t like tea tree oil or your skin can’t handle it, you can use lavender essential oil. It has many of the same properties tea tree oil does.
Normal honey will work in a pinch, but the raw stuff has ALL the good stuff you want so try to get raw, unfiltered honey.
Make sure that everything is clean before you start. We will clean the top of the bottle we use to crush the aspirin with alcohol before starting to ensure we don’t get anything we don’t want in the mask.
My Results
Here’s my before, during, after and next day pictures of when I used this last on a few blemishes.
Here you can see the spots I chose before I started.
Here’s what the mask looks like while it’s on. (sexy, I know 😊)
Here’s how my skin looked after I washed it off.
Here are the same 3 spots the next day for comparison.
You can see the initial redness reduction in the before and after pictures. And the next day you can see how much further the blemishes were reduced. I didn’t put anything else on them. I applied the mask, let it sit, then rinsed it off. The next day the only thing that I did was wash my face in the morning with a non-medicated cleanser.
I hope that this DIY acne treatment can help you out. At my house, we’ve seen better results with this mask than we have with name brand acne treatments.

It is about to be really hot where I live which sometimes makes my skin go a little crazy! I will try this diy acne treatment next time I have a breakout. Thank you for sharing!
It is magic stuff! Let me know how it goes!
Have you tried it without the aspirin? Trying to avoid the salicylic acid while pregnant. Also is tea tree safe? It’s been ages since i used it but i have some lying around.
Jen, the aspirin is one of the things that gives it the punch to knock down the redness. I’m not sure of the effectiveness without it. And yes tea tree oil is safe. You could sub lavender if you’d prefer. It will do nearly the same thing as the TTO.
Wow! I am going to have to try this!! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Kale, you’re welcome, hope you enjoy it!
