Alphabet Workout – Workout of the Week
Here’s the next installment of the “Workout of the Week”. This week’s workout is another bodyweight workout. I like that this alphabet workout can be done anywhere, and it can take as much or as little time as you want it to.
Basic Principles
Being that this is another bodyweight workout it’s like the HIIT and Core workout that I posted a few weeks ago. You can find that one HERE. It is closely related to the 17 Minute Workout from last week.
This will be another intense workout that will help your body to fat for hours!
Make sure you have clear floor space. Wear clothes that you can move quickly and easily in.
The use of a yoga mat may also help. Here is a link to one of my favorites. Make sure you’ve got a good pair of sneakers with good support as well since you’ll be jumping around a little.
The Moves
Most of these movements are basic but I’ll give a brief rundown of some of the lesser-known movements just in case.
- Jump squat – same as a squat but jump up explosively from the bottom position.
- Push-up – We all know these too. Make sure you keep your back flat and bend your elbows at least to parallel. Knee push-ups are ok if you can’t do a full push-up yet.
- Burpees – Gotta love to hate burpees. You start standing up squat down and kick your legs out behind you like you’re going to do a push-up (do an actual push-up to challenge yourself if you want to make it more difficult) then bring your legs back in and jump up in the air.
- Jumping Jacks – We’ve all done them. Use GOOD FORM here making sure you’re extending your arms full length and using a full range of motion. No sloppy jumping jacks, you’re only hurting yourself if you skimp out on the movement.
The Alphabet Workout
Use your full name and that’s the workout. Repeat if necessary. Have fun with it. Try it forwards and backward. Use your middle name if you want an even longer workout!

This alphabet HIIT workout looks intense, but also fun. I’m already hating I have a longer name. Can I just use the shortened form of my name?
Kimberlie, that depends on if you want to shortchange your workout! I have a long name as well. If your full name is too long try your first name and see how that feels.
This sounds like fun! I really want to get back in shape and need to mix it up a little.
Jen, I’ve got a lot of bodyweight or minimal workouts planned for future posts so check back each week!
This is great! I love when you can turn a workout into a game!
Amy, me too!
I love this! Do you have a YouTube video? I’d be interested to follow you on this and do some much needed exercises at home. 🙂
I do not but that is a GREAT idea. I will have to start making videos!
This is so fun! Working out is much more enjoyable when there’s some fun incorporated into it. I’m going to give this a try!
Maggie, YES it is! I hope you enjoy it!
What a fun way to change it up! I look forward to trying it out!
Melissa, let me know how you like it!
I’ll be honest – I hate working out. This makes it look a little fun! I may just try this. Thanks!
Chelsy, making it fun really helps!
Love these!! I was just looking for some ideas for indoor workouts.
