Introduction
Hello there!
I’m Desiree, the mom behind Fitmomology. I wanted to start this blog to help out any moms out there that might not know what to do or where to start. Living a healthy lifestyle can be hard when you’re busy. Trying to figure out all out with diet, exercise, nutrition, meal prep, balancing working, being a mom and finding time for yourself along the way.
I’m currently a construction project manager by day and an Usborne Books & More consultant and blogger by night. I’ve got a B. Arch from NJIT (New Jersey Institute of Technology) and I’m a registered architect as of 2009 and I hold a smattering of other certifications related to that.
Where it all Started
Back in 2013, I had lost a lot of weight due to some not great circumstances. Kept it off for about 2 years and then due to quitting smoking (yay!) and some other not so good circumstances (not yay). Gained it all back and then some, I just wasn’t happy. I knew I HAD to do something. There’s an app for everything so I downloaded the C25K app and I got to work. I started running on a treadmill and then I got more confidence to run outside! I wanted to run a 5k, still haven’t done that, but I’ve walked one!
I started weight training after a few weeks after the running. First with machines then I started to gain enough confidence to start trying the free weights. I mixed in a few group fitness classes as well. I used a variety of apps and tried a ton of programs. After trying all of that I found my calling. I LOVED the weights, I was lifting and taking a few group fitness classes a week (Centergy, Blast, and Core were my favorites). After a while, I naturally fell into powerlifting. The rest is history as they say.
